House Concurrent Resolution 68

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING LAURA M. CURRY FOR BEING NAMED THE 1998 CARROLL COUNTY BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Laura M. Curry, principal at Marshall Elementary, was named the 1998 Carroll County Business Woman of the Year; and

WHEREAS, a native of Vaiden, Mississippi, Mrs. Curry was raised in a family of teachers and eventually found herself in the field of education as well; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry began her career at Marshall Elementary eighteen years ago as a teacher and was named principal in 1991; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry enjoys the challenges of an administrative position and manages to remain interactive with her students in the halls, taking a genuine interest in their well-being; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Mrs. Curry has been instrumental in bringing Marshall Elementary up to standards with other schools across the state; and

WHEREAS, with more than 400 students and more on the way next year with consolidation, Mrs. Curry has met the high demands of a growing school by providing a top-notch education; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her involvement at Marshall Elementary, Mrs. Curry is actively involved in her community and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Vaiden, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Eddie, and children, Domonique and Kieandra; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend outstanding educators such as Mrs. Laura M. Curry, whose dedication, loyalty and unselfishness have enriched the lives of her family and students:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Laura M. Curry for being named the 1998 Carroll County Business Woman of the Year and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Laura M. Curry and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
